I recently completed a 6-day acupuncture course with the Health Professions Acupuncture Group (HePAG) after winning a Twitter competition with the Sports Therapy Association.
The course was held over 3 weekends, which was very helpful as I was able to fit it in around my work. The course was well organised with pre-reading and relevant information sent well prior to the first teaching weekend.
The course provided a good balance of practical and theoretical work which has enabled me to feel confident when delivering acupuncture as part of my treatment plans with patients. The theoretical lesson plans were challenging and targeted at the right level for all of us on the course. All course content was provided within a course manual which was systematically worked through giving good structure to all the weekends work.
Our tutor (Jon Hobbs) was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the subject at all times which made the whole course really engaging and enjoyable. Jon was also able to adapt lessons to suit those who needed extra support on certain elements. The small group sizes also meant good contact time with the tutor. He was more than willing to stay behind at the end of lessons to go through anything that I felt I didn’t fully understand following a day’s teaching.
Overall the course was a very worthwhile experience that has enabled me to use acupuncture effectively in both clinical and sporting environments on a variety of different patients. Thanks very much to Jon, HePAG and the STA for providing me with this fantastic opportunity.
I’ve already found acupuncture to be an excellent additional treatment modality. It integrates well within my existing treatment options and I’ve seen fantastic results. I couldn’t imagine not using acupuncture now!
